After a very successful 2006 Carnival season and widely applauded shows at Carifesta IX, calypso lovers are looking forward to enjoying another fun season of vintage calypso. (See the flyer)
The Vintage Kaiso Brigade is a collaborative effort between Radio Trinbago and Lord Superior. The intention with this tent is to revitalize vintage calypso, and to create an opportunity for hit-makers of the past to perform nostalgic calypsos. In essence, the tent provides an opportunity to bring back a glorious bygone era for mature calypso fans and curious younger folks.
The tent’s core performers will be guest stars from the award winning movie, “Calypso Dreams”, including Stalin, Duke, Valentino, Bomber, Luta, Power, Mudada, Rio, Funny, Poser, Brigo, Regeneration Now, Lord Superior, and other guest artistes.
Opening night is Monday, January 22, at the Strand Theatre in Port of Spain, and shows will continue Monday and Tuesday nights throughout the Carnival season. In addition, the tent will be at ‘The Lure’ in Chaguaramas on Thursday nights, and at the Radio Trinbago Car Park, opposite Victoria Square, on Saturday nights.
