Allrounder’s 2010 CD Launch

Allrounder's 2010 CD LaunchAnthony ‘Allrounder’ Hendrickson launched his 2010 CD at the Nu Pub (Mas Camp Pub) on January 06, 2010, with the support of many fans, friends and fellow Calypsonians. In fact, so much was the support that the venue was full to capacity.

This CD, although currently untitled, has already a breakthrough hit, “Ah Female Life Guard” with its catchphrase “dive.” Diving, Allrounder promised, is what his female fans would do once they hear this new double entendre piece, which is intended for them.

Almanac

Calypsonian ‘Almanac’ (Anthony Francis) passed away on November 6th 2009, at the Port of Spain General Hospital around 9:30 p.m. due to suspected liver cancer. His funeral was held Wednesday, November 11th, 2009, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Independence Square, Port of Spain. He was interned at the Woodbrook Cemetery. Fellow Calypsonians as well as family and friends were in attendance as ‘Almanac’ was laid to rest.

Tuco gives laptops to young calypsonians

Eric Taylor, president of the Trinbago Unified Calypsonian Organisation (Tuco), is today assuring young calypsonians that years of neglect by his organisation are now at an end. At last Wednesday’s distribution of HP laptops to 18 finalists in this year’s National Junior Calypso Monarch competition at Tuco’s Jerningham Avenue, Belmont office, Taylor announced the new respect future bards can expect.

Five soca artistes, including Fay-Ann Lyons-Alvarez, her husband Ian ‘Bunji Garlin’ Alvarez, Lalchan Babwah (Hunter), Shurwayne Winchester and Nadia Batson are now discussing legal action against the Caribbean Prestige Foundation (CPF) for demanding five percent of their winnings at the 2009 International Soca Monarch competitions.

Fay-Ann, who won the Power Soca Monarch, Groovy Soca Monarch and People’s Choice prizes on Carnival Friday, last month, was presented at last Friday’s prize distribution ceremony, Cascadia Hotel, St Ann’s, with a letter stating she could not receive her money because she did not sign a contract agreeing to pay the five percent.
