TUCO, First Citizens Junior Calypso Monarch 2019

On Monday 25th February, 2019, the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians’ Organisation (TUCO), in collaboration with First Citizens, hosted their annual National Junior Calypso Monarch Finals at the Queen's Park Savannah, Port of Spain.


The programme included remarks by First Citizens Chief Information Officer Wendell Mitchell, an address by the Minister of Education, the Honourable Anthony Garcia, guest performances by 2019 Barbados Junior Calypso Monarch and four-time Junior Calypso Monarch Aaron Duncan.


A total of sixteen students participated in the calypso competition with seventeen-year-old Rivaldo London of Pleasantville Secondary School emerging as the winner with his composition “My Purpose”. In second position was sixteen-year-old Ta’zyah Duane O’ Connor, followed by fifteen-year old N’Janela Duncan Regis in third position.

Musical accompaniment was provided by Len Cummings and D Wailers.
