The 5th Annual Ladies Night Concert, organised by Randy Glasgow Productions, came off on Saturday 18th January, 2008, at the Jean Pierre Complex in Port of Spain. A large audience, seated both in the stands and on chairs in the courtyard, was on hand to witness the performances by top Soca and Calypso artistes.

The show started just after 9 o'clock as Kes the Band took to the stage with their front duo of Kees Dieffenthaller and Nadia Batson. The pair warmed up the audience with their various hits. In addition to other songs, Kees did a cover of Black Stalin's "Black Man Feeling to Party" singing instead that the "Red man feeling to party". Nadia Batson was excellent also as she performed several of her popular songs including "Caribbean Girl" and "My Posse".

Comedian Damien Melville

During the band changes onstage, comedian Damien Melville had the audience in stitches as he spoke humorously on the topic of fashion. Rachel Price, who was the M.C. for the show, also had the audience rolling with her often risqué humor. Her raw style took some of the audience members by surprise but for the majority of people, it was the typical gamut of Price's jokes.

Soca songstress Destra Garcia came to the stage next in a pair of extra short shorts, accompanied by four dancers in even shorter shorts. Starting with a rendition of Alica Key's song "No One", Destra and the band Atlantik thrilled the audience with their pulsing Soca music. As she started to perform her hit song "Saddle", Destra invited volunteers to come on the stage and a brave patron obliged as he tested his skills against one of the dancers. He handled himself well until the other three dancers jumped on him and threw him flat on the stage while proceeding to wine on him. Destra humorously reminded the audience that it was Ladies Night Out so he could not hope to come onstage and be victorious against the ladies.

Shurwayne Winchester and Traffik was the third Soca act and they proceeded to mash up the place. Shurwayne came to the stage with Johnny King as they proceeded to sing the popular "Wine on the Panman" song much to the delight of some of the females in the audience who got up from their seats and swarmed to the front of the stage. He had the ladies in the palm of his hands as he performed his popular 2007 and 2008 hits including "Don't Stop", "Give It To Me" and "Look The Band Coming" "Dead or Alive", "Ah Cyah Wait" and "Jump Up Like the Living". In his usual style he went down in the audience to sing and was instantly mobbed by scores of adoring ladies.

Singing Sandra

Singing Sandra, celebrating twenty-five years as a Calypso artiste, came to the stage and made her presence felt immediately as fans got up from their seats and came in front of the stage. She delivered two of her perennial favorites, "Voices in the Ghetto" and "Die With My Dignity", to the audience who sang along lustily. Denyse Plummer also proved a favourite as she delighted the audience with her rendition of "Nah Leaving". Allison Hinds, who recently released her debut solo CD "Soca Queen" was also in the line-up as she performed her hit singles "Faluma", "Iron Man" and "Roll It Gyal".

Denise 'Saucy Wow' Belfon

The Soca Dancehall Queen, Denise 'Saucy Wow' Belfon, took to the stage and excited the crowd with her legendary wining moves as she delivered several of her popular songs. Her exit paved the way for David Rudder to grace the stage to perform two songs "Bahia Girl" and "High Mas". The audience waved and danced along to his music with the ladies especially having a whale of a time.

Iwer George

Iwer George took to the stage as he sung his popular 2008 song that encouraged the audience to wave their hand over their head and make a passa passa. Starting his popular song "Until You See Iwer" he gave a freestyle verse that knocked Rachel Price for not introducing him to the stage. The crowd enjoyed the bacchanal as they continued to lap up his Soca offerings. When Rachel Price came back on stage, she responded by angrily piconging Iwer, explaining that the stage manager had, in the interest of time, asked David Rudder to introduce Iwer. Iwer and Rachel were involved in a running exchange of picong and insults a couple of years ago until they 'made peace'. Old hostilities seemed to have re-emerged on the night, not that the audience seemed to mind as they reveled in the bacchanal.

Faye-Ann Lyons-Alvarez

Also performing were Faye-Ann Lyons-Alvarez, Lima Calbio, 3 Suns, Terri Seales, Sanelle Dempster, 'Blackie' and Michelle Sylvester as Ladies Night Out went into the wee hours of the morning. For the large audience, they thoroughly enjoyed the humor and the music as they laughed heartily, danced, sang and waved throughout the show.
