The 2nd Annual Black Stalin Calypso Festival 2006 proved to be a noteworthy post-Carnival event which commemorated the works of the legendary Calypsonian, Black Stalin. This event, which took place on Saturday 3rd June, was a successful venture bringing together several great Calypsonians on one stage at the Jean Pierre Complex.

The tribute to Black Stalin started off with Calypsonian, 'Organizer', who warmed-up the moderately-sized gathering with tunes, "That's ah Bandit" and "Trinbago Yankee". Other guest performers included the young and talented Erphaan Alves who sang the thought-provoking tune, "Parenting is the Key", '3 Canal', 'De Original Defosto himself', the 'Explainer' and Ken 'Professor' Philmore on the pan. The other well-received performers included Brian London, the 'Mighty Shadow', David Michael Rudder, 'Maximus Dan' and the melodious voices of Marilyn Williams and the all-woman group emanating from Tobago, 'Flayme Unlimited'.

The MC for the night was comedian Tommy Joseph, who threw his usual 'picong' at the audience adding a humorous dimension to the programme.

Also, evident in the concert was a "Soca Warrior" theme among the performers that night indicating support for the Trinidad and Tobago team who made it to the World Cup Finals which would be held this month in Germany.

Although the general ambiance could have been enhanced, there was a marked improvement in the quality of sound, which must be commended. Also, luck proved to be on the side of the producers as well as the audience as the weather held up quite nicely. The starry and virtually cloudless night sky only added to the memorable occasion which was the Black Stalin Calypso Festival.
