'It's Not a Tent, It's an Experience' is the billing given to Kaiso House this year. So when the first note of the National Anthem was played by the House Band 'Cummings and the Wailers' at 8:10pm, the audience was ready for the 'experience' at the opening of the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organization Kaiso House at Port of Spain City Hall on Wednesday.

In his address, the president of TUCO Mr. Michael Leggerton said this year they are managing ten tents and were working to absorb many more calypsonians due to the closing of Calypso Spectacular.

From the first performance by Lasana where he urges the audience to 'Celebrate Trinbago' the show ran smoothly. There was a good mix of Traditional Calypso and Soca throughout the show.

The first performance to earn an encore was Surge who added a little Hip-hop to the Soca and came up with the very popular 'In Your Timing'. This group had a good strong performance.

Count Robin stole the show with his excellent delivery of 'Ah Love Them' which in reality criticizes most Trinidadians but by the time he finished his first verse he had the audience in the palm of his hands, singing the song and calling for more. This song earned him two encores.

Valentino took the audience down a pan memory lane with his selection 'Bands From the West' which won him an encore, in the song he paid tribute to the bands from the west.

Performing after Valentino was Crazy who was very subdued and took a patriotic turn with his song 'Oh Land Of Mine' which earned him an encore.

Singing Sandra gave the audience two selections 'Too Much Ashes in the Urn' which earned her an encore and 'Do Unto Others'. Her performance was strong as she again pleaded for an end to violence.

In true Shadow style he delivered two of his compositions 'Love Sweet' and 'Hypnosis', better known as (Flexing, Flexing). Both songs contained his heavy bass lines, were very musical and were well delivered.

One of the best Social Commentary for the season was delivered by King Wellington titled 'The Problem Is' which earned him an encore. This Calypso goes where many in the art form fear to go. He examined the crime problem in the country but did not lay blame with the petty criminals only, and even though it was a Social Commentary it was a very melodious Calypso.

Michael Leggerton performed 'Under the Trees' his tribute to Black Stalin and 'Flip Flap', while Explainer performed his very popular 2006 offering 'Park It' which earned him an encore.

Also performing in the lineup were Rootsman with 'Time to Pause', a young Nefta Kojo who performed 'Poisonous', Twiggy with 'Calypso Music', Dee Diamond who performed 'Lost Talent', Mudada who sent out his support to those affected by Hurricane Katrina in the Calypso 'New Orleans', Bro Resistance who performed his Rapso 'Jump and Put It Up', Squibby who performed his Calypso Chutney 'Soca Ramjattan', and closing the show was Lima Calbio who performed 'In Meh Back Yard'.

The music was provided by Cummings and the Wailers with ace trumpeter Errol Ince, and the backup was provided by the Kaiso Jewels.
