Rikki Jai (Samraj Jaimungal) became the first $2 million monarch of Carnival 2011 when he won the NLCB Chutney Soca Monarch competition at Skinner Park, San Fernando, on Saturday night…

Crowd divided over Chutney Soca results
When Samraj “Rikki Jai” Jaimungal’s name was announced, there was booing and shouting “nooo” from some sections of the massive crowd who packed into the Skinner Park, San Fernando ground.

Ravi B apologises for behaviour
Dethroned Chutney Soca Monarch, Ravi Bissambhar, has apologised to fans, patrons and Southex Ltd, promoters of the annual Chutney Soca Monarch competition, after inciting irresponsible behaviour from the fans at the end of his guest performance at the show on Saturday night.

Kamla, Gypsy star in Chutney Soca
From a Minister of Govern-ment performing extempo to a soca artiste serenading the Prime Minister with a classic reggae hit, the 2011 edition of the NLCB Chutney Soca Monarch final featured scintillating performances and energetic dance routines that captivated the massive audience at Skinner Park, San Fernando on Saturday night.

George Singh Jr, chief executive officer of Southex, says he is disappointed with the actions of dethroned Chutney Soca Monarch, Ravi Bissambhar, during his guest performance at Saturday night’s final.

…Gypsy apologises for Ravi B

Roodal wants criminal probe in pelting incident
Housing Minister Dr Roodal Moonilal thinks that Ravi “Ravi B” Bissambhar should be criminally investigated for inciting supporters to throw missiles onto the stage at the Chutney Soca Monarch final…

…Moonilal hits Ravi B’s conduct

…Now promoters cancel Ravi B Children’s Show

…Sore losers
We must first acknowledge that Ravi B apologised for his behaviour at the end of the Soca Chutney Finals on Saturday night. And we note that the apology was contrite and sincere, and we take him at his word that he deeply regrets having called upon the audience to protest the decision which gave his colleague in Chutney, Rikki Jai, the title and the two million-dollar first prize.

Promote non-alcoholic songs
Arrive Alive’s Brent Batson has congratulated Rikki Jai for winning the 2011 Chutney Soca Monarch title and the historic first prize of $2 million. Baton, however, warned Jai to take note of the high level of drinking and driving on the nation’s roads and suggested he focus on more positive messages in his songs.

  • rikki jai as no chance to win the the 2 million

  • Rikki Jai deserved to win .His PERFORMANCE was incredible It spoke volumes of professionalism showmanship and a great deal of experience. On the other hand RaviB PRESENTATION was mind boogling. It was out of this world. He has an amazing voice and his showmanship skills are unsurpassed.I think however Ravi chose the wrong song. It did not do justice to the skills and talent so evident in Ravi. The melody needed a little more continunity with which the people could sing. The punch lines were too abrupt.Ravi you are a winner in the eyes of the people.Don’t you ever loose the common touch or the embracing personality that every loves. You are so loveable and you are young .Trinidad and Tobago loves you .Iknow for sure I will see that crown on your head (my prediction)next year.On another note the prize of 2000000 was a great incentive but this whole prize giving thing needs to be revisited. It certainly was not balanced, and can can result in disenchantment among the other winners.Ican also be a form of deterrant for the less hopefuls.Again Rikki congrats.Ravi keep rising.Next year WE COMING and WE READY.

  • am soooooo gald ravi did not win if u guys ah jealous of rikki well am not becuz ravi always win he have to give other people a chance aswell I HAD LIKED KI TO WIN but am glad someone take over

  • White Oak and Water……….it white and smooth. On the surface it seems like another rum song but it much deeper than that.

  • I honestly think that this new drunking rum shop prime minister forget where she come from and should give young people a chance to live and encourage them instead of being byas and have her own personal favorites, in my opinion people should remove her as prime minister right away, she is no good and not fair, Ravi’s song was very good and is much suited for the younger crowds, but if this is her way of encouraging young people then she is still a RUM DRINKER in my book just like rj. A black prime minister is always fair but when you are racist you cannot run a country, please woman give it up and get a life.

  • ki shuda win..wtf

  • althea antoine-alder

  • How can you call that a contest. The way I know it you sing one or two songs, but what I saw was that most of the contestants doing several tunes in their time slots, with a carnival type band on hand, (Oh by the way Drupatee should have won)

  • DEVIKA, read your own post and tell me who is the real RACIST. (“BYASS”) Are you one of those with the free PNM education. The correct spelling is “BIAS”

  • wayy sah wtf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wham to psnty man???? oooopps i mean tanti man

  • i wanted ravi b to win the 2m…………………stupis

  • honestly, anil bheem sang d best if it have 2 have a recap of dis show, pay close attention.i am a big fan of rick,ki,an longtime ravi b not anymore.bt i personally watch dis show an find everyone let me down an anil bheem suprised me. ravi b had 2 many things in his performance, jaimaster voice was disappointing, ki was ok cudda cum up wit better idea, rick shoudda never bring dat man he spoiled his performance,an d others couldnt cum close 2 1st.only anil bheem i seewas excellent.i am a dancer an i knw wat it is like an it was a curry favour ting.been there done dat no one cant fool me.

  • Rikki jai is experienced and seasoned. As the competition format changed he adapted and came back better. This text to vote system gives to most popular song or artiste. ravi b won it last year but rikki never complained as how ravi did last night.

  • I am very disappointed in the results of the CSM, I had no doubt in my mind that Ravi or KI would have won. Even Rick Ramoutar’s song was very popular. I am a true fan of Ravi B, and I believe he has what it takes to make his crwod very happy. Last night however, I thought his performance as too mixed up.. You are great Ravi, but you had too many songs for 2011 that you ended up changing into songs too fast or too much. Given my opion, I wouldn’t have been soo disappointed if someone else won it but it should have been someone new, so that upcoming performers would have incentive to join. Rikki Jai is very experienced and deserves to be credited but I just dont feel his “white oak and water” was good enough for 2M. To e-one who took part in CSM, congratulations. Big Rich and his crew… You guys are doing very well for the industry… Ravi, I am sure you will rise above this, it isn’t defeat, keep focused, keep pleasing your crowd and show the world how much greater you can be.. Let this be your incentive for better…..

  • CONGRATS RIKKI
    ALL THE BEST FROM GUYANA

  • *signs* it was a tough competition , but honestly Rikki song was so lame 😀 and the people who voted for this guy seriously you guys have really bad taste in music what the hell . K.I persaud so deserve to be the king ! that’s all i have to say and as for Ravi B goes he did a excellent performance too 😀 i am happy he came second 😀 but that Rikki Jai god what were people thinking voting for him /:) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and i also think Terry Gadraj perform well…..well there can be only one king , one winner so we must all accept this :( but in my eyes the real king is K.I PERSAUD ! big up JMC Treveni !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy yippeeeeeeeeeeeeee! 😀 😀 ;D

  • what i think is that one person should not win that 2m dollars
it should be place as 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th place wins because
    every body perform very well.
but bye the condrats to ricky jai

  • Bonita Blaze (Eva Blaze)

Rikki yuh kiil it!! De performance was besssssssssss………no matter wat nobody say yuh deserve it!! Congratulations…….

  • Congrats rikki, great job

  • Seriously i think they need judges now this texting thing is not professional because people base it on who they like a General Election. If i had to judge it will be based on who perform the best that night and also the energy on stage that influence the crowd so even though KI had the better song I would of choosen Ravi B but as i said they need to have professional judges.

  • i was very dissapointed on the results for CSM . i think anil bheem should have won, his song was really nice and rick ramoutar 2nd ,cause i think there songs are pertaining to everyday life, its reality. i dont like ricky jai song its letting down us indian ,hindu people , “we dont want no white oak and water for Dowry” us indian women is worth more than a drink of rum??!!!!

  • listen to all those out there ki had the bestttttt song i doh care what anyone say but next time am so flicking sure he will win 😀 i want him to win rikki jai is 50 yrs old wam? he win five times dred y he ca give he younger youths ah chance time to go rikki but all the bess 😀

  • my post is de bess who agree

  • Something is not right here. The song White Oak and Water was not on the same level as Ravi B., KI, Rick Ramoutar or Hunter. It was not popular or catchy. Yet the winning margin was approximately if not more than 8000 votes… Seriously!

Hats off to Ravi B. KI Hunter and Rick Ramoutar…Y’all songs were better…Believe me.

  • long time kama follower

ravi b has to be more professional and act accordingly. he has shown the entire world that he is a sore loser. he should not be inciting violence into the crowds.he should also be stripped of the 2nd place title and prize.

  • Congratulation to Ricki Jai, however i think ther should be a full investigation into the results. If one looks at the viewing for the artist on Youtube, you can find the following
    Ricki Jai – 4030 viewers
    Ravi B – 13,807 viewers
    Ki I – 15,431 viewers

Therefore for Ricki Jai to win so comprehensively i can safely say there has to be some discrepancy with the final results. I hope a full probe is launched to satisfy the many hard working tax payers who have contributed to this prize money.

  • rikki jai DID NOT deserve that 2million dollars KI deserve that
but next time KI will take over , he will be the king for 2012
we doh care who say wah

    ******** rikki jai

  • 1st vishal persad
    2nd o’neil bhajman
    3rd rick ramoutar
    4th drupatee ramgoonai
    5th anil bheem

  • white oak and water makes no sense rikki jai , but no more rum again makes sense which is KI

  • i like when Ravi B say ALL WHO DOH LIKE D RESULTS TONIGHT PELT SOMETHING ON D STAGE dat goes to rikki jai
